Legacy Progress Report

Life rarely goes as we plan it to.  Four years ago, I wanted to release a prequel to the Chronicles of Seven that would blow the reader's mind.  Thankfully that didn't happen because I remember the book I had written back then and it wasn't what this book is now.  Legacy in 2008 was scattered and forced and not true to the plot that I have established through Awakening and Resurrection.  I think of the first draft of Legacy as a shotgun blast with pellets everywhere.

Legacy 2013 is so much better.  I added so many pieces and subplots and ambiance.  It is more real and alive than it was before.  The biggest thing I think that sticks out with this draft is the richness of the characters and the depth of the story line.

When I originally wrote Legacy, I didn't know Ulrich that well and I hadn't established Cassie as deeply in his life.  Now the early days of their relationship are told in what I hope is a vibrant way.  I hope that I have done them justice, as well as Tiernan and Breanna.

I'm in the last stages of writing right now and I plan to get this version of Legacy to my cold readers in a couple of weeks.  After that comes the editing process, which can take a little while.  My husband is working on a cover design that should do Legacy justice.  I will have a teaser soon.

At the same time, I'm writing the next novel in the Chronicles, Scandal.  I'm very excited for this novel and the one that follows it.  The plan for Scandal is an October release, but I'm being honest with myself and it might be November.  Sadly, I won't be participating in Nanowrimo this year.

While you're waiting for me to finish writing, you may want to pick up City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare or Fallen by Lauren Kate.  Both are amazing novels and City of Bones is coming to the big screen on August 23.  I will be sitting in my local movie theater for the midnight premiere!

Happy reading!

Beginning Again

My new computer has finally arrived!  My super sweet editing partner (personified by my darling husband) is copying all my files over and making sure it's in complete working order.  I should be able to start writing again tomorrow.  Then work begins on the beginning of the Chronicles again...

Unintentional Hiatus

This post is much later than I intended it to be, but I'm hoping that you'll forgive me after you read what happened.

Not long before Christmas, my steadfast little pink Acer netbook started having some problems.  It was taking too long to load programs and I wasn't entirely comfortable with its ability to save my work if I was writing.  Since I normally don't write during December, I wasn't thinking too much about it and figured after a little reformatting that the problems would cease.

However, about three weeks ago, my computer stopped taking a charge.  Thankfully I wasn't working on a novel when I discovered this and I still had half of my battery life left to shut it down and stop using it.  But that leaves me woefully sans computer to write.  I'm typing this blog entry on my husband's computer while he's at school.  If I could use one of his three desktops, I gladly would but they are not available to me.  Did I mention that my husband is in college for web development?  His computers are set up to do homework and run his business.  Writing is taking a back seat to that right now.

The good news is that this hiatus is soon coming to an end.  A new computer is on the horizon.  Once everything is set up and my novels are retrieved from Google Drive (I LOVE Google!), then I'll be back on schedule.  Legacy is due to come out in May!

Thank you for your patience while I'm technolgically stagnant and I'll have something new for you very soon!

It's Gone!

Resurrection is gone!  It's been sent to the publisher.  Now we just wait to make sure the formatting is right.  Once I know that everything is good to go, I'll let you see the cover.  It's awesome!  I'm so very excited!

Now on to National Novel Writing Month prep...
